During this investment journey, I have also attended a few events and competitions notable PolyFintech100 where I am working with a group under Prudential categories learning about their insurance product and service, Volunteering for GEN “Entrepreneurship World Cup Singapore National Finals 2022” where I met and networked with entrepreneurs and investors, I also went to MetaJam Asia 2022 where I was able to explore and learn Metaverse, Crypto and NFT. Lastly, I also went to the Originator Programme where I learned to think from an entrepreneur’s mindset to attract investors.

Reflections:

In most of these events and competitions that I am participating in, it is usually because of my self-interests and the feeling of wanting to expand my knowledge. However, because investment is such a big topic where it touches on a lot of sub-topics which overlap, for example, the event that I volunteered for GEN is where I am able to meet real-life investors of big companies. I am able to see the difference between those who are venture capital and us retail investors.

I am also glad to be able to work with Prudential to be able to learn more about their insurance plans because normally young people won’t think of insurance as an investment. However it should play a big role in your budget that you might need to factor in and depending on the plan in which you pay a premium, you may get a return back plus a bit of interest.
